History or Mystery? What They Didn’t Teach Us in School

 

Let’s be honest for a second — real honest.
We sat for years in school, reading from pages that were meant to shape our understanding of who we are, where we came from, and what our ancestors stood for.
But what did we actually get?

Aurangzeb. Mughals. Again and again.
Page after page, chapter after chapter — glorified as if they were the only ones who built India.

But wait…
Where was Shivaji Maharaj?
Where was Sambhaji Maharaj — the warrior who faced brutal torture yet never bowed down?

Where were the Rashtrakutas, Mauryas, Guptas, Shatavahanas, Cholas, Kakatiyas, Pandyas, Marathas, Vijayanagara kings?
Where were the stories of those who actually defended our land, our culture, our pride?

History was taught like a badly edited movie.
Selective. Filtered. And dangerously one-sided.

Congress & the Great Whitewash 🧼

Let’s call it what it is.
The Congress government, for decades, handpicked history like it was a PR campaign.

• Deliberate silence on Indic empires.

• Downplaying warriors who resisted foreign invaders.

• Glorifying aggressors, romanticizing cruelty.

• Making invaders look like visionaries.

• Making freedom fighters look like footnotes.

It wasn’t education.
It was erasure.

And what’s worse?
CBSE, ICSE, and State boards followed this playbook for generations.

We thought we were learning history.
But what we were learning… was the art of forgetting.

Thankfully, The Awakening Has Begun 🕯️

In recent years, a few state governments finally had the spine to correct this.
Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and even UP are slowly bringing back Shivaji, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Harihara-Bukka, Raja Raja Chola, Rudrama Devi, Krishnadevaraya and many more into the textbooks.

But this is just the start.
It’s not about North or South. It’s not about religion or region.
It’s about TRUTH.
And every child in India has the right to learn the complete story of their country.

• Demand reform in curriculum, not just cosmetic.

• Watch content, read books, explore local history.

• Don’t let your kids grow up blindfolded like we did.

Because a nation that forgets its warriors will keep kneeling in front of invaders.
