🕯️ 2 Months Since Pahalgam, and the UN Just Handed Pakistan a Gavel
And yet the world chose to look away.
Today, Pakistan sits on the President’s chair at the UNSC.
With 182 votes. Out of 193.
Let that sink in.
🇵🇰 Pakistan's Statement vs. Ground Reality:
"We undertake this responsibility with a deep sense of purpose..."
"Respect for international law..."
"Peaceful resolution of disputes..."
But what about Pulwama? Pahalgam? Uri? Kargil? Mumbai 26/11?
All conveniently erased from collective memory?
When the sponsor of terrorism becomes the speaker for peace, what’s left of the institution?
🔁 The Rotating Presidency? Sure. But What About Rotating Morality?
Yes, the presidency is alphabetical and monthly. We get it that’s procedure.
But should procedures trump principles?
Would the world allow:
North Korea to preside over talks on nuclear disarmament?
Syria to head human rights councils?
Russia to lead a panel on territorial sovereignty?
Oh wait some of those already happened.
🤝 182 Countries Said “Yes”
So the same countries that light up their monuments in blue after terror attacks
Are the ones that just applauded a country that harbors terror camps on its soil.
Do they think our grief has an expiry date?
Two months ago: candle marches and condolences.
Today: applause and standing ovation.
🧠 Real Talk: Global Politics Has No Memory. But We Must.
This isn’t about jingoism or blind nationalism.
This is about truth.
If the world wants to respect the UN Charter, then it must begin by calling out the violators, not handing them microphones.
⚔️ A Suggestion For The UN:
If you're going to make a country accused of sheltering global terrorism your voice of peace —
At least have the decency to acknowledge the victims while you're at it.
Mention Pahalgam. Mention the innocent lives.
Don’t just move on because the news cycle has.
